  • Van eyck biography Van Eyck died in 1441 CE and was buried in the Saint Donatian church in Bruges. Famous in his own lifetime, now his legend grew even further thanks to a plethora of admiring artists and biographers. Jan van Eyck's skill with oil paints, though, was so high he was extremely difficult to imitate, even if he was much admired across Europe.
